KOLKATA>>>>>STATUE......!

Posted by panchali mallick at 11:10 PM 1 comments
The city of joy almost came to a halt on thursday afternoon with hordes of Trinamool Congress supporters choking the important streets of the city even the Howrah bridge as a display of protest against High Court's decision to grant bail to the Tapasi Malik case accuseds, Suhrid datta & Debu Malik.
Well the "Chakka jam" attributed allround unrest in regular civic life of the city. With causing delays in 15 flights, Trinamool claim themselves to be resposible enough to effectively undertake the state's governance. Well friends let us site their act of responsibility. The blockades were to last ten minutes, instead it continued for almost an hour triggering massive congestions in the major centres of the city like...Girish Park, Manicktala, Amherst street, Park CIrcus, Park Street, Gariahat and so on. Major hospital location like R.G.Kar saw terrible jam as well.
The question pondering over my mind now is that, tis true that the accused of the Tapasi Malik case deserves punishment but why in the heaven are the thousands of innocent Kolkatans are compelled to succumb to such maltreatment? How are their suffering vialble enough to fetch punishments for the concerned accusseds? Think of the hundreds of commutters who were forced to walk down the Howrah Bridge on Thursday afternoon because of the demonstrations.
Well the Trinamool's protestors were even seen rush towards the buses at BBD Bag. Well ofcourse one can well understand the reason of their rush connoting a well devised instrument to scare the public to get down the buses. Well so can this show be a justified protest against the HC's decision? The Trinamool supporters displayed a threat to the City life on Thursday withthe Kolkata Police standing by as a mere spectator. What punishment can be convincing & justified for such inconvinient displays?
This is'nt something new for people living in Bengal, we are often victimised of such calcavades. Calcavades earlier were resorted for harnesing the benefit of the citizens....who can forgat the famous Gandhi March....But now-a -days street rallies and demonstrations are merely reduced to the sheer display of party powers, and who the sufferers are for this early deterioration...we the commonmen.
How long can we keep calm and accept such irresponsible acts from the various parties operating in the country. Bengal now being known for its political unrests, unnecessary calcavades, deindustrialisation and illegal uprooting of the farmers, rather than its rich heritage of tradition and culture is rather a disgrace brought upon the state by the so called rulling & the opposition parties. Lets see if such jestures can pull some favourable numbers to their concerned vote banks, which ofcourse is their ultimate urge. And ofcourse whether or not HC act according to Trinamool's whims is yet to be unseen. At least if they succeed in their aim then we can console ourselves of having contributed something to the process of fetching Justice for poor Tapasi Malik. God bless her soul....what else can i pray for her whosedeath is even being comoditised to win over publicity to the concerned party.

STAR STRUCK...!

Posted by panchali mallick at 10:49 PM 0 comments
Well friends lets talk about the latest trend culminating this season - The collision of politics and film stars...all set to adorn the responsible positions of MPs. The emergence of bollywood stars in parliament has become rather an endemic. If we site the general elections of 2004 almost seven bollywood stars stood as candidtes either for Bharatiya Janata Party or Congrss. There were twenty nine bollywood actor & actresses who took part in the party campigning. The overwhelming share of glamour in politics is thought as a successful & effective mean of attracting voters. The political parties often strive to recruit bollywood stars for their campaigning purpose to mobilise the largest possible chunk of voters. With every election there seem the urgency to resort to the glamour for the campaigning.
Well politics have a major role to play in determining a country's future developements. It must have a depth & decorum, it is expected that the political leaders would perceive politics beyond the narrow role of a spectacle which is attached to it. It has been seen in past specialy in case of Sohern India the film stars play an importanat role in the region's all round developements. Hence their participation in the politics is much expected and welcomed but the scenario is different when we consider the case of north India. Bollywood stars participating in Politics are rather ignorant. With their blessed ignorance how effectively they could manage the constituencies they are fighting for is rather a big question mark. Most of them are not even familiar with the names of the constituencies leave alone their knowledge of the local language being spoken there of. With such minimal knowledge and zero experience is it at all safe to allow them stand for the elections.
With the popularity and glamour the stars possess its not quite difficult for them to win the elections. But this win emphasis keeping the future of the region at stake. Unavailibilty of them during emergencies, unallocation of funds send for the constituency & absence during parliament sessions are few to mention among the attributes of getting or rather achieving a bollywood star as a MP.
Yestur year actors like Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha,Vinod Khanna & Raj Babbar already adorn the parliament. To join the crew are actors like CHICHI and our very own MUNNABHAI. Well chichi's unavailibility during the mumbai emergencies already raised a lot of hue & cry since he stood from one of the constituencies from Mumbai itself. Will Sanjay Dutt be successful to cast his spell in politics is yet to be apprehended. So we can conviniently say that politics has become an effective harbourage for bollywood actors but how well they can fulfil thein obligations of acquiring such responsibility is utmost uncertain.
Being the citizen of the world's largest democracy i must put forth the question that do we deserve to be taken at stake???? The convinience with which the Political parties transfer our country's fate to such ignorant batch must be combated. Stars look good playing their cards on screen, with depressing examples of siting failures of these Filmstars in politics the country must be awaken to the truth and abort the possibility of ressurgence of bollywood stars in Politics.!

The GR8 Indian Fraud...!

The biggest scam ever in the history of Indian economy at Satyam Computer Services took the very interior of corporate India by storm. The promoters of Satyam, led by the company's chairman, B.Ramalinga Raju, are alleged to have siphoned out a huge amount from the firm. To veil the fraud they manipulated company accounts and forged the documents to understate their liabilities. Andhra Pradesh CID even made allegations that the compay had only 40,000 employees against 53,000 it claimed to have. The remaining 13,000 was fake salary account that pocketed about Rs. 20 crores to the chairman and his associates in crime in the fraud over 5 years.
The investigations have lot more to reveal. The Satyam scam was rather an audacious and outrageous one that led the company near collapse.
The Satyam fraud shockingly points out the failure at all levels of governance to prevent the differences occuring between managers and promoters on one side and shareholdersor stakeholders on the other.Governance is meant for the security of the small and marginalshareholders. Their duties constitute to monitor the complicit activities of the pvt. joint stock companies. The ostensive fraud not only went unnoticed by the govt. auditors but was also unnoticed by the firm's auditors. This left a hole of Rs. 7,000 crores in the company accounts over the years.
The Satyam episode is not only an attribute of the individual greedbut also is the result of regulatory dilution and failure. In such a siuation instead of isolating the company steps must be taken to recur its functions and discard the possibilities of any furthe frauds.

India-Pakistan Analogy.

Israeli miitary action against Gaza connote the idea og military actions being preffered as a ntural answer against terrorism. But this anlogy does not apply in case of India & Pakistan. The recent abatement of tension between the two neighbours reassures New Delhi not being in favour to use military actions against her close neighbour. But how long the danger of an outbreak of a conflict can be prevented is a question whose answer lies with Pakistan's possible stands. A second atteck in India after 26/11 by a Pakistan based militant organisation can raise the possibility of an outbreak of a conflict.
The gruesome 26/11 attack on Mumbai wavered the diplomatic class of the international forum. The pressure is mounting on Pakistan to destroy the terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba nurtured in the country . India is also all set to take some serious actions against any possible terrorist upheavals in the country in the name of jihaad.
Pakistan's adament stand against handing over India the key terrorists or to destroy the terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba who are responsible for repeated terror assaults in India is instigating the later to apply coercive diplomacy against Pakistan. The prevailing situation between the two neighbours will continue to heat up untill the progression of the events between the countries result in something worthwhile that would help tracking down the organisation nurturing terrorism in the name of jihaad.
